GIE launches a promotional video for the Prevention of Occupational Hazards in the Assistance to the People

The Group for European Integration launches a promotional video for the Prevention of Occupational Hazards in the Assistance to the People. This promotional video is one of the tools designed on behalf of the “European Project on Training Tools for Health and Safety at Social Services Enterprises (WBTT H&S).

In this project, coordinated by COCETA, there are organizations from five countries of the European Union (Spain, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Bulgaria). Together, they aim to implement a series of training tools to promote safety in the care sector.

You can see the presentation video at the link: As the others videos that will come after with the educational toolkit, it tries about persons that are helping elderly people as well as other dependent people at home or at specific residences.

As confirmed in previous research conducted in the project, people working in the sector of Care for People have 34% more accidents than other in the industrial sectors.

The videos

The material presented in which actors can be seen in real life situations of care givers, gives a brief idea of ​​how will the rest of videos -that are already made and currently on an undergoing testing- will be.

There will be at the videos information about basic risks exposure to chemical or biological agents (contact with infectious and contagious diseases); psychosocial risks (bullying, violence and especially stress related to the workplace); physical, mechanical and electrical hazards (use of equipment, falls) and derivatives postural and musculoskeletal diseases.

After recording, the training videos also have a space for interactive questions and answers. All of the videos will be available at the end of the project in a web page, where you may find these and other materials for the training in risk prevention.

The project is part of new training models that combine, through videos, reality situations. With witty images and a casual language the content is more easily assimilated.

The partners involved in the implementation of the project are: Associação Nacional para a Acção Familiar (ANJAF) and Associação Portuguesa de Saúde, Higiene e Segurança no Trabalho para o Desenvolvimento e Cooperação Internacional (APSHSTDC) from Portugal; Istituto Nazionale di Formazione della Lega delle Cooperative e Mutue (Inforcoop) and the video company Oltremodo, from Italy; the educational firm from Bulgaria Balkanplan; and the Group For European Integration (GIE) from Romania.
