The Group for European Integration (GIE) from Piteşti, ROMANIA has started a project on training tools for health and safety at social services enterprises

Organizations from five countries from the European Union (Spain, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Bulgaria) have celebrated the first meeting of a large and ambitious project to develop a group of training tools (with videos and courses), for safety and health in social services enterprises.

The organizations involved are the following:

  • Spanish workers cooperative organization Confederación Española de Cooperativas de Trabajo Asociado (COCETA);
  • the families association Associação Nacional para a Acção Familiar (ANJAF) and the development NGO Associação Portuguesa de Saúde, Higiene e Segurança no Trabalho para o Desenvolvimento e Cooperação Internacional (APSHSTDC) from Portugal;
  • the cooperatives and mutual institute Istituto Nazionale di Formazione della Lega delle Cooperative e Mutue (Inforcoop) and the media organization Oltremodo, from Italy;
  • the education and training enterprise from Bulgaria Balkanplan;
  • the Group For European Integration (GIE) from Romania.

The project, financed by the European Commission, will finish at the end of September 2015 and includes: a research phase, the development of training tools that will be accessible on the Internet, the evaluation of the tools and – at a later stage – the transfer of innovation in the services sector throughout the European Union.

Most of the partner organizations have already participated last year in a successful project with similar goals, in the specific sector of cleaning in offices and institutions.

First meeting

The first of the five meetings that are going to be part of the project was held in Madrid on 30th and 31st of January 2014, with the participation of fourteen people that represent the organizations involved.  During the two working days of the meeting, they have analyzed, discussed and approved the Action Plan, the Organizational Chart, the Communication Plan, and most importantly, the Tools that they want to develop - that are the backbone of the project.

The project is organized through work packages with one or more responsible. The first of the work packages was presented by ANJAF, which during the next months has to conceive and perform a survey to better identify the needs of safety and health in the social services sector (specifically those services provided to elderly or other dependent people in care centers or at home).

During 2014 and 2015 one meeting in each partner-country will be held, to present, discuss and analyze every work package of the project. The project will end with a large dissemination event in Madrid.
